Nike is one of the most recognizable brands worldwide. On the eve of Euro 2008 Nike wanted to promote the T90 II football shoe to soccer fans in an engaging way. The challenge was to promote the shoe while also driving footfall to the Nike Corner location at Attica, Athens’ premier department store. We decided to use a combination of technologies to get people in to the Nike shop-in-shop on the fifth floor of the department store. Shoppers passing by where prompted by graphics on the Nike storefront display to activate the Bluetooth connectivity of their mobile device. Those who did, received a mobile coupon containing a unique code as well as premium Nike content for their phones. The coupon instructions directed users to take their unique code and go to the fifth floor of the store, to the Nike shop in shop, in order to win prizes on the spot! Once there, shoppers were greeted by staff who directed them to a branded touch screen info-kiosk, with the Nike T90 II football trivia game. Users had to answer correctly a series of Nike soccer related questions in order to win. A small thermal printer in the info-kiosk printed out their win slip in order for shop staff to verify the winners. The results were overwhelming. The competition was cut short because the gifts ran out ahead of time!
