Under the "Experience the Perfect" slogan Ogilvy Action wanted to develop a mechanism to enable consumers to engage with the Jacobs Espresso brand at the point of sale. Two promo vehicles were developed, the first being "Experience the Perfect Day" and the second the instant win Jacobs Espresso trivia game. Mobile would be the platform of choice and both a large nationwide bluetooth network at selected cafes and an SMS mechanism to distribute the content to consumers were utilised. The content comprised of a java app that allowed users to enter the description of how they would spend their perfect or ideal day. Furthermore, they could play the coffee trivia game, as many times as they liked, and win on the spot large tins of coffee or sets of espresso cups. In order to participate though each consumer had to provide proof of purchase at the point of sale. This mechanic was built into the app for verification when winners were selected. The app contained a wealth of information on how the Jacobs espresso beans are selected, roasted and in turn served. All this information was derived from he barista manual Jacobs has issued to all its participating cafes.
