BRAND GREEN DESIGN FESTIVAL
PLATFORM MOBILE

When we were approached by Brainlab to participate in the first Athens Green Design Festival we were exited to join the effort. Since the devastating forest fires that struck Greece, we felt that it was important to do what we could in order to increase environmental awareness. This project aimed to do this through a series of platforms including industrial design, digital media, and other creative outlets. The Green Design Festival is a beautiful effort that combines design, ecology, recycling, art and all in an urban backdrop. The whole festival spanned 2 weeks with many artefacts and exhibits located all over the city of Athens. The main attraction was the Eco Museum situated at Athens' main Synatgma square. We were involved with the 'City Map' project of the festival. The project involved a number of top design agencies being commissioned to represent their vision for a green map of Athens. The results were truly remarkable as the identity and uniqueness of each “map” portrayed the design team's unique take on the issue, influenced by recent events also. A series of locations throughout the city were selected as prime locations for the distribution of these digital maps. An installation piece was created for each location, inviting users to explore the map and, if he wished to do so, download and share each map. All the maps were distributed through access points, via Bluetooth. Needless to say that as all things in an urban environment, the constructions invited technology users, graffiti artists, thieves and even the anti-terrorist unit of the Athens Metropolitan Police. A truly interactive installation!!! We enjoyed it loads!
