Outdoor kiosks are an integral part of the retail landscape of Greece. The main participants of the advertising arena at these locations are the tobacco companies. In 2008 when these organisations were looking for a “digital” lift for their POS’s the result was the largest outdoor digital signage network spanning across the entire country. At the front end, the network was comprised of high brightness, widescreen panels, in order to ensure prime visibility at all times of the day and all sunlight conditions. The backend, was comprised of dedicated digital signage player’s all managed remotely with over the air 3G connectivity. Each location presented a unique set of environmental conditions, that we were called to assimilate in order to obtain the highest QoS of the network. The results were impressive. In combination with the inspired work of Patenta (JV partner) whose design of the kiosks communicate the general brand characteristics, it was up to the signage to let consumers be aware of the new offerings of these tobacco companies. Among the companies which use the network are JTI in Greece for their Camel brand and Philip Morris for their Marlboro brand, in Greece and Egypt.
